Working principle
Increase the filtration area through a folding structure: The folding design enables the filter material to have a larger filtration area in a limited space. For instance, the 3M™ Betafine™ XL series folding filter elements adopt the "Advanced Pleating Technology (APT)", which increases the overall filtration area without changing the size of the standard filter element, effectively extending the service life and reducing the frequency of replacement.
Intercepting impurities through channels: Taking the stainless steel pleated filter cartridge as an example, it is composed of a group of plastic discs with grooves in different directions on both sides, stacked together. The grooves and edges on adjacent surfaces form a large number of intersection points, which constitute a large number of cavities and irregular channels. The channels continuously shrink from the outside to the inside. During filtration, water generates turbulence, which prompts impurities in the water to be intercepted at each intersection point.
Structural composition
Filter materials: Common ones include special organic synthetic fibers, glass fibers, N6 nylon microporous filter membranes, and stainless steel sintered felt. For instance, high-temperature resistant primary filters commonly use special organic synthetic fibers and glass fibers. The N6 nylon pleated filter element adopts a high-precision N6 nylon microporous filter membrane. High-temperature resistant metal filter elements are made of stainless steel fiber sintered felt.
Frame: Generally, materials such as aluminum alloy, stainless steel, and galvanized iron sheet are used. For instance, high-temperature resistant and high-efficiency filters often adopt stainless steel outer frames, which have excellent strength and corrosion resistance.
Protective mesh: Usually, aluminum mesh, stainless steel wire mesh, galvanized iron wire mesh, etc., are used to protect the filter material from being blown through or damaged. For example, the filter material of the folding high-temperature resistant filter will be folded and reinforced with galvanized iron wire mesh or stainless steel mesh on both sides.

Sealing materials: High-temperature resistant silicone rubber, silicone rubber, etc., are mostly used to play a sealing role and prevent leakage. For example, the sealing adhesive used in high-temperature resistant high-efficiency filters is high-temperature resistant silicone rubber.
Performance characteristics
Good high-temperature resistance: Different types of high-temperature resistant pleated filters have different temperature resistance ranges. For example, the 3M™ Betafine™ XL series pleated filter elements can withstand a temperature of 80℃. The folding high-temperature resistant filter generally can withstand temperatures of 250-300℃. High-temperature resistant metal filter elements can operate in a temperature range of -200 ℃ to 600℃.
High filtration efficiency: It can effectively intercept various impurity particles, colloids, dust particles, microorganisms, etc. For instance, the high-temperature resistant filter specially designed for ultra-clean ovens has a filtration efficiency of up to 99.99% for particles as small as 0.3μm.
Pressure drop: It helps to reduce the size of the filtration system, thereby lowering the total filtration cost. For instance, the 3M™ Betafine™ XL series pleated filter element pressure drop can make the filtration system more compact.
Large dust holding capacity: It can accommodate a considerable amount of impurities, extend service life, reduce replacement frequency, and lower usage costs. For instance, high-temperature resistant primary filters have the feature of high dust holding capacity.
Good chemical stability: The filter materials and structural materials of some filters have good chemical compatibility and can resist the erosion of various chemical substances. For example, the N6 nylon pleated filter element is resistant to many solvents, weak acids, and weak bases, and the stainless steel pleated filter element is corrosion-resistant.
Application field
Pharmaceutical industry: It is used for filtering tar, soot, dust, and other particles produced in high-temperature sterilization tunnels or high-temperature drying rooms in pharmaceutical factories, and can also be used for filtering medicinal liquids, buffers, culture media, etc.
Chemical industry: It can filter high-temperature chemical intermediates, additives, solvents, etc., and protect reactors, heat exchangers, precision valves, instruments, and other equipment. For example, in the production of coatings and inks, it can filter heated resin solutions, solvents, pigment slurries, and finished products.
In the food and beverage industry, during the hot processing stage of food and beverages, filter hot syrup, hot edible oil, the original liquid of beverages before and after pasteurization, process hot water, etc., remove impurities, and improve the clarity and safety of the products.
Electronics industry: It is used for the preparation of high-purity water in the electronics industry. In the pretreatment of reverse osmosis (RO), it filters the raw water or pretreatment water that may have a temperature rise, effectively removes particles, and protects the expensive RO membrane.
